Companies are adopting the Lean and Six Sigma complementary methodologies to reduce shop floor errors, improve quality and increase manufacturing throughput. Every product being manufactured is the sum of its characteristics represented by the design, the bill-of-material, the manufacturing steps, the processes used, the quality data collected on that product and the assembly operations. This information is the “as-built” record and is a key component of a Lean Six Sigma Manufacturing (LSSM) environment.
