CIMx Market Survey
If you could change one thing on your shop floor what would it be?
CIMx recently conducted a national survey focusing on the following questions:
- To what degree do you use paper on your shop floor?
- What are some of the inefficiencies on your shop floor?
- What are you doing to stay competitive?
- Cost aside, if you could change one thing on your shop floor what would it be?
The survey called on IT and manufacturing operations executives in mid sized Aerospace and Defense companies. A third party marketing firm conducted the survey, with CIMx collating and defining the survey results. The following highlight the survey results:
- 88% have paper processes across the shop floor
- 68% said that major inefficiencies were due to manufacturing processes that could be improved with a paperless system
- 83% of the respondents are adding new systems or conducting Lean and continuous improvement initiatives
- 63% want to improve operations by implementing a paperless process
Based on these results, it is clear many companies intend to initiate a plan to move toward a paperless environment in the near future.
The participants who answered the survey clearly understand the value of moving to paperless operations realizing that eliminating paper-driven processes is a major step toward improving manufacturing operations.
A paperless shop floor system can improve operations and also provide the data needed to sustain Lean and continuous improvement initiatives. It has been shown in numerous studies that Lean and continuous improvement initiatives require continual monitoring and data collection to sustain the improvements. Those executives wishing to move to paperless operation understand the strong relationship between technology and sustainable operations improvement.
Mid-market companies are now moving in the same direction as the major aerospace companies have been going for years. That is, blending operations improvement with the best technological solutions available to become more competitive. CIMx is in the forefront of the movement with an affordable paperless operations system tailored to mid-market company needs.
