AGILE ON-TIME ORDER FULFILLMENT

When a sales order is released to Quantum™ several things happen because each line item on the sales order may have:

  • a product name,
  • quantity,
  • price,
  • and due date.

Each product name links its process plan to that line item and produces a Quantum work order. Each Quantum work order is then divided into operations released to designated work centers with a priority level. Work begins when an operator logs into Quantum and selects their next work order. From then on, the order progresses through work centers as needed until the product is produced, quality checked, and sent to the packing and shipping area.  At that point, the work order is complete and may be held for others until sales order completion.

The above process can keep orders open and in process for a day, week, month, or year. During that time, in-process orders can be modified in several ways. An order line item can have its priority changed to improve the completion date in Quantum Scheduling. If an alert in Quantum notifies you that work on an order is stalled at a work center, it can be rerouted to another work center to continue production flow.

If a work order arrives with a high priority, it can be “released” in Quantum Scheduling under Simulation mode to see how it affects the due dates of all other open orders. Using the data provided by Simulation mode, you will see how individual operations or entire orders can be rerouted or re-prioritized to get the best result for all your customers.

It is also important to note that Sales Orders can be completed with all line-item quantities needed or partial quantities and if extra quantities are produced, they can be held in inventory for future sales.

Quantum increases on-time order fulfillment through robust Sales Order management and production agility.
