Production Planning inside your Quantum system is a very powerful tool, but you may be unaware of just how flexible it can be. Production environments are dynamic and whether yours changes frequently or just occasionally it can always benefit from the use of core time-saving features in Quantum. Here are two ways you can save time in production planning today.

If you are producing a new or revised product, it may have certain characteristics you wish to track such as a specific non-conformance type or a reason/event that may put its production on hold. It is simple to create a new process plan or roll the revision and rename an existing plan. Inside the Production Control tab in Quantum, you can initiate new non-conformance types or hold labels unique to a new product. Quantum will then create records to track this new product separately from past production.

Holds and Non-Conformances

The use of Shared Operations can also be helpful in creating and managing work center processes that are identical or similar across production plans. If an identical process is used in different products, a single Shared Operation can be created inside the Process Control tab in Quantum and copied into all plans needing that process. If the process ever changes, an edit to the Shared Operation will affect all plans attached to it. If a different product needs a similar process, the Shared Operation can be edited and re-assigned to just that product’s plan (making the copy unique and detached from multiple production plans).
