that’s the way it is – broadway finale

We’ve covered 4 songs from the Broadway show &Juliet that I saw recently. It was not a planned path. It’s just that I – and, well, our entire team – thinks about production all the time. It’s what we do. We are here to make manufacturing more efficient and profitable. We’re here to make it the highest quality possible. We firmly believe that making it right the first time is the only way to do it, and that technology is helpful, nay critical, on this path.

That’s just “the way it is.”

People get exhausted, call in sick, take vacations, make mistakes. It’s inherent in who we are. They let you down, don’t show up, and (sometimes) quit. Great team members forget things and don’t pay attention from time to time. Your experienced workforce can think they know what you’re asking and storm ahead in the wrong direction with the right intention.

production operations

It may not be as drastic as all that. Maybe your team just doesn’t realize that they’re having some repeat problem, so they never bring it up. They don’t realize (and, really, who could blame them?) that every time that they run a particular job on a particular machine, they have the same issue(s). I’m always thinking about that dock door. And so are they. They are meant to push stuff out that door, and you want that to be their highest priority.

Does that mean that you must live with the inefficiencies, errors and issues? Absolutely not. While it very well may be the “way it is” for you, it does not have to be.

paperless manufacturing

If this were easy to solve, you would have done it already, right? You’re right. It’s not easy to solve. It’s going to be tough. No matter how careful you are, change is inherently difficult. I’ve always believed that they make it difficult so that the win on the other side is just that – a win. Things that are easy (free) aren’t meaningful. They are not the well-deserved win of the hard-fought fight.

So you’re ready to take the step. You’ve convinced yourself that the way things are today – operating in a well-planned, structured environment that’s always just one step away from completely unravelling – is not the way to live anymore. The frenzy is too much. The team member that organizes everything for you needs a vacation. You need help.

Paperless manufacturing is about helping you to digitize processes and patterns that you no longer have to track manually. It’s about making your and your team’s work easier, more productive and more predictable. You need tools that help you to guide work through the process and readjust when things don’t go according to plan. You need something to capture everything you’re doing and make it easier for you to push that change throughout your organization and its work.

We’re here to help. The first step we suggest taking is a review of what you do, where you have problems, and how you usually solve them. What are the key areas for wins?  We call this a process gap analysis and we do this work throughout our sales process and also as standalone work.  Don't let it be "that way."  What are the key areas for wins for you to create lasting and meaningful change for your team?
